BEL uses a key person approach. This means that each member of staff has a group of children for whom they are particularly responsible. Your child’s key person will be the person with who you make sure that what we provide is right for your child’s particular needs and interests. When you child first starts at the setting, they will help your child to settle, and will help your child to benefit from the setting’s activities.
We assess how young children are learning and developing by making frequent observations. We use this information to document their progress in a ‘Learning Journal’. We believe that parents know their children best and we ask them to contribute by sharing information about what their children like to do at home, their interests and achievements or any other relevant information. You are invited to access your child’s journal regularly and you will receive a written report from your key person at transition to a new room/school. At the end of their time with us the profile is yours to keep. All staff are available to meet with you and discuss any concerns that you may have with prior arrangement.
