Diversity & Equality

Our activities are accessible and available to all children but a child is never forced to take part in an activity. We help the children to accept and celebrate differences by using multicultural activities, reading matter and materials in our everyday activities. These goals are supported by two setting Equal Opportunities Coordinators.

As part of the setting’s policy to make sure that its provision meets the needs of each individual child, we take account of any special needs a child may have. The setting works to the requirements of the 1993 Education Act and The Special Educational Needs Code of Practice (2001). We work in liaison with parents and staff outside of the group, including therapists, health visitors, social workers, paediatricians and portage workers, to meet the child’s specific needs.

This is all done in partnership with the parent and our Special Educational Needs Coordinator.
